In a renewed push to deepen transparency, accountability and efficiency in public service delivery, the Kano State Ministry for Public Procurement, Projects Monitoring and Evaluation (MPPPME) has intensified institutional engagement with government agencies through a series of bilateral consultations.

The initiative, led by the Honourable Commissioner, Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila, involved separate high-level engagement visits to the Council Affairs Directorate and the Ministry of Agriculture.

According to information made available by the ministry’s Information Officer, Sagiru Ado Abubakar, the engagements form part of MPPPME’s broader strategy to strengthen collaboration across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), improve compliance with public procurement regulations and ensure more effective implementation of government projects across Kano State.

During the meetings, procurement experts from the ministry underscored the importance of strict adherence to procurement laws, established procedures and due process requirements in the execution of public projects.

Officials stressed that compliance with procurement standards remains essential to achieving value for public resources, reducing inefficiencies and promoting transparency in governance.

The ministry also reiterated that all alternative procurement methods must strictly align with existing legal provisions and receive the necessary approvals before implementation, noting that unauthorized procurement practices could weaken accountability mechanisms.

It further explained that adherence to approved procurement frameworks remains critical to ensuring projects satisfy statutory obligations before reaching approval and execution stages.

The bilateral engagements provided an opportunity for constructive dialogue, technical clarification and knowledge sharing between agencies while reinforcing the Kano State Government’s commitment to prudent resource management and institutional reforms.

The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with all MDAs to strengthen procurement systems and processes, enhance regulatory compliance and ensure that government projects are executed in line with established standards.

Officials added that effective procurement oversight remains central to the government’s broader agenda of promoting good governance and ensuring public resources translate into measurable benefits for the people of Kano State.
