Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Kano Branch led by Hajiya Rakiya Mohammed Director, Information Technology Department and head of e-naira alongside Sir. Umar Ibrahim the Kano state CBN Branch Comptroller and Deputy Director amongst others today met with social media Influencers in Kano State in a bid to enlighten them as well as the general public on the essence of the #newnaria notes and to further inform the general public on efforts been made by the apex bank to ease financial hardships in the country the meeting was convened by Amb. Ibrahim A. Waiya Head of Secretariat, Kano Peace Committee. As it is now evident that some individuals are trying to politicize and to make ridicule of the initiative to score cheap political gains for their selfish interest. The essence/benefits of the #nairaredesign are basically for this purposes; * Counterfeit Deterrence *Increased Security *Durability *Cashless Policy *Economic Benefits *Branding & National Identity. Which in a general sense is for security. The CBN also expressed concerns on some malpractices been carried out by banks and POS operators who are now trading the new naira notes, noting that this is an offense and encourages the general public to report such individuals and cooperate bodies.
