UPDATE: APC Clears Hon. Umar Mahmud Umar After Earlier Disqualification Controversy
The latest development comes days after Umar announced his withdrawal from the party’s primary election over what he described as an unfair screening process that initially declared him “Not Cleared.”
The aspirant had earlier faulted the decision of the APC screening committee, insisting that all documents and credentials submitted by him were authentic, complete and in line with the party’s requirements.Following fresh review and internal consultations within the party, Umar’s status has now reportedly been changed to “Cleared,” paving the way for his participation in the party’s primary process.
The development has generated reactions among supporters and political stakeholders in Zamfara State, especially after concerns were earlier raised regarding transparency and fairness in the screening exercise.
Hon. Umar had previously accused the process of lacking accountability and transparency, while also expressing disappointment over the handling of complaints by party authorities.Despite the earlier disagreement, the latest clearance is being viewed by supporters as a positive step toward resolving internal tensions ahead of the APC primary election in the state.
Party supporters have since welcomed the update, expressing hope for a peaceful and credible primary process moving forward.
