See the Muslims who came to Church for Christmas celebration

 

Christmas mass at St. Thomas Catholic Church Kano was indeed a spectacular one as both Muslims and Christians were witnessed celebrating together.

The Holy mass which was officiated by the Assistant Parish priest Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Danbaba Sarki had both politicians and civil society actors from the Muslim faithful in attendance. 

 Hon. Mubarak Salisu (Action Democratic Congress, gubernatorial candidate in the Kano State 2019 election), Hon. Wakili Haruna Chairman, Action Democratic Congress Kano State.

Zainab Nazeer Ahmad a renowned Kano civil society activist were among the attendees.

Having being invited by Amb. Nworisa Michael Founder & Executive Coordinator, Stand For Peace Initiative in a bid to foster peaceful coexistence and religious tolerance amongst the two dominant religions in Nigeria. In his words to Stallion times; "we can be a nation worshipping our God our ways. People should understand that as humans we are all equal but in our diversity we can't and as such we should for the sake of peace respect each others opinion".

For all, the experience and joy on their faces were beyond what words could describe having visiting a Church for the first time and in an occasion such as Christmas.

Recall that St. Thomas Catholic Church some time in October following the aftermath of the #EndSARS protest was attacked and vandalised following the conflict which almost turned into a religious conflict. The presence of the Muslim community in such an occasion is indeed a sign of hope, love and brotherhood amongst the two Abrahamic religions.

The priest in his sermon emphasized on the need for sharing love to all as this was no time for segregation. He expressed satisfaction and welcomed the Muslim brethren while praying for peace and healing from the corona virus pandemic be poured out upon our Nations.
