BREAKING: EFCC Arrests Energy Commission DG Mustapha Abdullahi Over Alleged ₦500bn Fraud
Sources within the anti-graft agency disclosed on Wednesday that Abdullahi was arrested in Abuja and is currently being held in the custody of the commission as investigations continue.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the probe centres on alleged financial misconduct linked to hundreds of billions of naira.
One source reportedly stated that the EFCC arrested the Energy Commission boss over money laundering allegations involving funds estimated at approximately ₦500 billion.
Efforts to obtain official confirmation from EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, were unsuccessful as he could not be reached at the time this report was filed.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had appointed Abdullahi as Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria on October 24, 2023.
