Amb. Nasir Aminu Said
(Kano State Coordinator IGRA'A Foundation Nigeria).
The
book is a story of John from polygamous family, who lived under care of
his beloved mother, who had been a petty trader in the village of
kataf, in the state of Abstail in the republic of Nicast.
Life
had been smooth to John, until the sudden death of his mother coupled,
with family pressure which forced John to leave his studies, friends and
family to go to the far north of Nicast- a region which had already
been ravaged by insurgents.
The
study revealed how corruption and selfishness of the leaders of
northern Nicast coupled with ignorance, poverty and manipulation of
region made the activities of the insurgents to continue to intensify
claim more territories and instigating fear in the mind of people of
northern Nicast.

Furthermore,
the study also revealed the good qualities of honesty and diligence
which are lacking by politicians of Northern Nicast, which John
distinguished himself during his apprenticeship, which made him to attract
recognition in the region.
In
addition, The study identified the challenges encountered in the start
of activism, which John became very fashionate revealing, how john
suffered to counter suppression and discouragement of his master.
Similarly,
The study also examined the consequences of people not involving in
community service or consider the problem of society as theirs, looking
at, how John's master(who had been discouraging his activism idea)
took his family back to Southern Nicast because of continuous killing in
North Nicast, leaving John only to continue to manage his business.
More so,
the study also revealed the challenges faced in apprenticeship when it
comes to settlement, as we have seen, how John was falsely accused of
theft in order not to be properly settled.
Finally,
The book concludes by emphazing the significance of education, which is
considered as key to any societal progress, while debunking the
emphasis of certificate, as we have witnessed, looking at how John, who
was secondary school drop out was managing thousands of graduates and
impacting to his society more than what many of them could do.
